Este proyecto pretende evaluar el valor socio-económico de especies de agua dulce a lo largo de la región del norte de África en el contexto de las amenazas para esas especies tal y como se ha determinado y documentado previamente en la Lista Roja de la UICN de especies amenazadas.

Este informe, basado en 21 casos analizados, procedentes de 17 países en cuatro continentes, describe cómo los pastores lograron defender y hacer valer sus derechos sobre la tierra. La pregunta inicial era qué elementos contribuyen a consolidar los derechos de los pastores sobre la tierra y los recursos.

Le présent rapport, basé sur 21 études de cas provenant de 17 pays de quatre continents, décrit la manière dont les pasteurs sont parvenus à défendre/faire valoir leurs droits fonciers. La question initiale était de savoir quels facteurs contribuent à consolider les droits des pasteurs sur la terre foncière et les ressources.

This report, based on 21 case-studies, from 17 countries in four continents, describes how pastoralists successfully defended/asserted their land rights. The question at the outset was what elements contribute to the success of pastoralists’ securing land rights and resources.

A publication showcasing successful bog and some fen restoration projects across the UK was recently launched. A variety of case studies illustrate opportunities for restoration and sustainable management as well as innovative ways of engaging people in conservation action for bogs. This publication was launched at the symposium 'Investing in Peatlands - Demonstrating Success' jointly hosted with the British Ecological Society.

It is commonly claimed that forest tenure reform that provides rural people with rights to access and use of forest resources can contribute to improved forest management and poverty alleviation. But, at least with respect to poverty alleviation, there are few experiences with formal forest tenure reform that have demonstrated this to date. Given how difficult it is to achieve pro-poor tenure reform, an important question is whether modest informal changes can achieve results.

This paper examines how interventions intended to improve functionality and productivity of forested landscapes to improve livelihoods of the poorest populations, might actually yield co-benefits in terms of biodiversity conservation. It argues in favour of a ‘landscape’ approach to achieve these co-benefits.

This publication provides guidance for terrestrial, marine, and freshwater protected area managers at both system and site levels on the restoration of natural and associated values of protected areas.

This report from the IUCN Shark Specialist Group includes the first compilation of conservation status assessments for the 282 chondrichthyan species (sharks, rays, and chimaeras) recorded from North American, Central American, and Caribbean waters. The status and needs of those species assessed against the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species criteria as threatened (Critically Endangered, Endangered, and Vulnerable) are highlighted.

This project aims to assess the socioeconomic value of freshwater species across the northern African region within the context of the threats to those species as previously determined and documented by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
