Conservation strategies

Part of a series of regional reviews of multi-sectoral strategies for sustainability at the national, provincial and local levels, complementing the volume on Strategies for National Sustainable Development; each volume summarizes the status of strategies in the region, reviews and analyses case studies to provide an analytical history and status report on each strategy.

Without active intervention and management, Marine turtle populations are expected to continue their decline to extinction. This strategy covering nine individual strategies ranging from research and monitoring to funding for marine turtle conservation is intended to meet the need for a comprehensive, unified and global approach to the issues.

This report suggests coherent policies for sustainable utilisation and management of the natural resources of the Danube and its tributaries. It examines the present situation, focuses on river corridors, restoration of riverine ecosystems and discusses how to increase public awareness and involvement.
