Drylands

This booklet provides an overview of the approaches and lessons learnt as a result of the implementation of the pilot phase of the ‘Water for Livestock Project’ in the arid and semi-arid lands of Kenya by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Kenya Red Cross Society, and Adeso.

This study presents some lessons from a selection of IUCN interventions in dryland areas that have adapted to a greater or lesser extent to the conditions of drylands, notably focusing on water management to deal with scarcity and variability. The study is intended as a means of capturing lessons learned from these interventions on the challenges and opportunities for improving water development in drylands.

L’ouvrage Conservation de biodiversité des zones arides vise à sensibiliser toutes les parties prenantes et à galvaniser une action plus large afin de booster la conservation et le développement des zones arides. Il constitue un appel à l’action ainsi qu’un guide sur comment la conservation et le développement des zones arides peuvent être réalisés de manière équitable.
