This paper briefly highlights some of the major impacts and influences that these resolutions have had on conservation. It is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather to focus attention on some of the most significant issues that the IUCN Membership has addressed, working together with IUCN's six Commissions (on Species, Protected Areas, Environmental Law, Ecosystem Management, Communications and Education, and Environmental, Economic and Social Policy) and supported by IUCN's Secretariat.
This report summarizes the numerous activities implemented and documents prepared by the national and local-level expert groups, and presents the valuable lessons learned. The report will provide an excellent reference for all stakeholders involved in the development of legal and policy frameworks to combat landscape degradation (LD), not only in the People's Republic of China (PRC), but also in other regions with similar LD and demographic problems, like central Asia and Africa.

La gobernanza ambiental está relacionada con la protección de las áreas protegidas, la conservación de los recursos naturales y en el debate socioambiental y político sobre el cambio climático.
A symposium on community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) for the conservation of CITES-listed species was organized by the Austrian Ministry of the Environment and the European Commission in Vienna, Austria, in May 2010. Its aim was to provide the necessary knowledge base for a broad policy discussion within the European Union on the relevance of local conservation programmes for CITES to achieve the goals as set out in its current Strategic Vision 2008-2013 (Res. Conf. 14.2).
