In order to help IUCN keep up with changing conditions and important developments in the global conservation agenda, twelve Interaction Sessions were scheduled at the 2nd World Conservation Congress to discuss topics as varied as Environment and Security, Forests for life, and the Ecological limits of climate change.

The two neighbouring countries, Libera and Sierra Leone, are situated in the heart of the Upper Guinea forest region. This region is one of the earth's most biologically diverse and was originally covered by a continuous block of dense tropical rainforest, ranging from Guinea south through Sierra Leone, and Liberia to Ivory Coast and Ghana. Much of this forest cover has already been lost and what little remains is under serious threat from commercial activities, such as logging, mineral mining and the subsistence activities of an ever growing population.
This compilation contains all key documents produced during the development of the Vision for Water and Nature, the environment and ecosystems componant of the Vision for Water, Life and the Environment for the 21st Century, generally known as the World Water Vision. Included are : the Vision itself, the discussion papers which served as the basis of each workshop and the workshop reports
