Framework for assessing and improving law for sustainability

The sustainability challenges we face today are greater than any we have previously confronted. This year, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Law is a necessary part of the solution to sustainability challenges. To achieve sustainability goals, appropriate and well-implemented legal frameworks and tools must be in place. And, importantly, they must be effective. And to ensure thatlaws work, we must first understand what makes law effective.

Rwandan forest landscape restoration opportunity assessment : tracing the influence

This report presents a study and account of the adoption of the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) Opportunity Assessment for Rwanda (the ‘ROAM’ assessment) recommendations by the Government of Rwanda (GoR) in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Resources Institute (WRI). It has been prepared for IUCN on behalf of the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) KNOWFOR programme using an episode study approach.
