Forest conservation

Protected areas are the cornerstone of virtually all national and international conservation policies. About 10% of the world's forests are to be found in protected areas, and Forest Protected Areas make a critical contribution to conservation. The purpose of this publication is to address two questions, both of which are strategic, complex and politically significant: What is, and what is not, a Forest Protected Area?

This publication is a collection of documents and reports relating to the first stages of the Europe and Northern Asia Forest Law Enforcement and Governance process (ENAFLEG), primarily emerging from the project entitled: ENA-FLEG: Optimising Russian forest resilience to climate change through improved forest governance arrangements.

Pretende ser guía en temas de derecho ambiental, así también para la educación superior y la formación de ciudadanos y tomadores de decisiones, en el ámbito del desarrollo sostenible. Contiene temas generales sobre derecho ambiental, su problemática y su aplicación práctica, en el contexto centroamericano.

Cloud forests represent a rare and fragile ecosystem that is under threat in many parts of the world. These rich mountain forests make up no more than 2.5 per cent of the world's tropical forests but contain a disproportionately large number of the world's species. The Cloud Forest Agenda report aims to stimulate new initiatives and partnerships for the conservation and restoration of tropical montane cloud forests around the world.
