The latest IUCN Red List shows that a third of all amphibians, one in eight birds and a quarter of all mammals are under threat globally. Environmental action has to be taken collectively at the international level and the EU has taken a strategic approach across Europe, by implementing the Birds and Habitats Directives.
This volume presents the results of seven years of surveillance and monitoring of the marine fauna of Oman which was carried out during the development of a series of Coastal Zone Management Plans. The report provides an overview of the status of the different fauna groups and discusses the threats to their continued well-being, in particular a detailed analysis of fishery impacts.
