A system plan is the design of a total reserve system covering the full range of ecosystems and communities found in a particular country, identifying the range of purposes of protected areas and the relationships among the system components (i.e. individual areas, protected areas and other land uses), and different sectors and levels of society. Highlighting key linkages with other aspects of economic development, it should show how various stakeholders can interact and co-operate to support effective and sustainable management of protected areas, and help to establish priorities.

Draft International Covenant on Environment and Development

The Draft Covenant is a blueprint for an international framework (or umbrella) agreement consolidating and developing existing legal principles related to environment and development. Since the publication of the second edition in 2000, there have been important developments in the field of international environmental law. This revised edition takes account of these changes, following a review of important new treaties and soft law documents, including the Johannesburg Declaration and Plan of Implementation.

Ce manuel constitue un outil pratique et théorique pour soutenir les négociations d’accords de pêche bilatéraux.

Negotiating equitable fisheries access agreements : a capacity-building and reference manual for developing coastal states

Fish and fish products provide important trade and livelihoods opportunities in many coastal developing countries. Fishing access agreements do not always result in fair and equal arrangements and may contribute to the overexploitation of resources and threaten the food security of these countries. This manual provides a practical, theoretically informed handbook to support the negotiation of bilateral fisheries access agreements.
