World Heritage properties are internationally recognized as places of Outstanding Universal Value that should benefit from the highest level of management effectiveness. The Toolkit 2.0 offers a self-assessment methodology to evaluate management effectiveness in a World Heritage property or other heritage place. It contains 12 tools that can be used separately or collectively to understand in detail what is working well and what can be done better.

A presente segunda edição do Estado das áreas protegidas e conservadas na África Oriental e Austral toma como base a primeira edição, publicada em 2020, e apresenta dados actualizados sobre a gestão e a governação de áreas protegidas e conservadas na região, disponibilizando efectivamente uma informação regional actualizada sobre os progressos realizados no sentarget_ido da concretização da Meta 3 do Quadro Global de Biodiversidade de Kunming-Montreal (GBF).

Cette deuxième édition de l’État des aires protégées et de conservation d’Afrique orientale et austral s’appuie sur la première édition publiée en 2020 et propose des mises à jour sur la gestion et la gouvernance des aires protégées et de conservation dans la région.

Estas directrices ofrecen un enfoque hacia la creación de un papel prominente y apropiado para la relevancia cultural y espiritual de la naturaleza dentro de la gobernanza y la gestión de las áreas protegidas y conservadas. Intentan superar algunas de las dificultades  causadas por los objetivos contradictorios a la hora de comprometerse con la cultura en el contexto de la conservación de la naturaleza.

Inland waters – such as rivers, lakes and other wetlands – are among the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. They are also the most threatened; almost one in three species is at risk of extinction and monitored populations of freshwater species have declined by 85% since 1970. The loss of these ecosystems has cascading effects on human livelihoods, cultures and our overall well-being.
