This second edition of The state of protected and conserved areas in Eastern and Southern Africa builds on the first edition published in 2020 and provides updates on how the region is managing and governing protected and conserved areas, effectively providing a regional update on the progress towards the achievement of Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity framework.

World Heritage properties are internationally recognized as places of Outstanding Universal Value that should benefit from the highest level of management effectiveness. The Toolkit 2.0 offers a self-assessment methodology to evaluate management effectiveness in a World Heritage property or other heritage place. It contains 12 tools that can be used separately or collectively to understand in detail what is working well and what can be done better.

The IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions lists the Criteria and Indicators, as adopted by the 98th Meeting of the IUCN Council in 2020.

The coaching manual (COMIT) is for the second version of the Integrated Management Effectiveness Tool (IMET) and of coaching or professional support for protected area management teams. IMET is a decision-support tool intended to develop the planning-monitoring-evaluation process in order to improve protected area management effectiveness. It is suitable for all protected areas, regardless of their management and governance category.

The Conserving our sea of islands report provides the first comprehensive assessment of area-based conservation in the region. The 23 countries and territories that it covers are diverse but share a common identity and geography, as well as many other features such as extensive customary ownership.

La Malette pédagogique est le manuel de la version 2 de l’outil intégré sur l’efficacité de gestion (IMET, en anglais) et de coaching ou action d’accompagnement professionnel des équipes de gestion des aires protégées. IMET est un outil d’aide à la décision destiné à faire avancer le processus de planification-suivi-évaluation pour améliorer l’efficacité de la gestion des aires protégées.

L’Horizon du patrimoine mondial de l’UICN 3 s’appuie sur les trois cycles des Évaluations des perspectives de conservation réalisées depuis 2014. Il présente les principaux résultats pour 2020, mais aussi certaines tendances à plus long terme, en se basant sur une comparaison des trois ensembles de données aujourd’hui disponibles.
