Construire l'avenir : rapport sur le programme de l'UICN 2005-2008

At the close of a 15-year regional programme to build institutional capacity for wetland resources management in West Africa, it was deemed essential to extract and review the lessons learned through this experience. This publication stems from the findings of a study carried out to analyse the experience as a whole and shed light on the successes, shortcomings, strengths and weaknesses of the programme as implemented.
Informa de las acciones del Programa Alianzas de UICN con la participación de 200 organizaciones y 115 socios directos, durante sus dos primeros años de labores y con un nuevo modelo de gestión ambiental y de participación social. Las labores se desarrollaron en zonas fronterizas con importante biodiversidad y situaciones de pobreza, en comunidades de Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua y Panamá.
This report is on the first national conference on CBNRM that was a culmination of a series of three workshops on key topics in CBNRM, namely: community mobilization, enterprise development and natural resource monitoring and management. The objectives of the conference were to reflect on the progress made so far in implementing CBNRM activities, to consider the recommendations from the workshops and to deliberate the way forward.
In order to contribute to the discussion of furthering coherence with respect to the role of the World Bank, this report looks at the various case studies where coherence between World Bank and GEF was either successful or wanting and formulates recommendations to improve operational coherence.
