Este libro articula claramente, por vez primera, cómo las áreas protegidas contribuyen significativamente a reducir los impactos del cambio climático y qué es lo que necesitarían para contribuir más. En un momento en el que entramos en una escala de negociaciones sin precedentes acerca del clima y la biodiversidad, es importante que estos mensajes lleguen – alto y claro – a los decisores de políticas y que sean traducidos en políticas eficaces y en mecanismos de financiamiento.

Le présent rapport expose clairement, et pour la première fois, à quel point les aires protégées contribuent à diminuer les effets des changements climatiques et ce qu’il faudrait faire pour qu’elles y contribuent encore plus.

Les objectifs de ce guide visent principalement à appuyer les formations pratiques, à approfondir l'apprentissage, à apporter des solutions d'urgence et à surveiller les aires marines protégées régionales sur la base de procédures communes. Ce support technique permettra ainsi aux agents d'exercer leurs activités avec un maximum de sécurité et d'efficacité.

Ce livre est le fruit d'un souci commun pour la conservation de la biodiversité et des espaces naturels protégés dans un monde changeant sur lequel pèsent actuellement la menace du changement climatique global et la disparition de la biodiversité qui est à la base de l'existence de notre planète.
