Rivers

Este documento es la primera edición del inventario nacional de los humedales de Guatemala y constituye el inicio de un proceso dinámico en el conocimiento de los humedales guatemaltecos, su localización, tamaño, principales características y funciones. Esta información permite clasificarlos, darles valores de importancia y priorizar aquellos que requieran mayores esfuerzos de conservación y manejo.

This report suggests coherent policies for sustainable utilisation and management of the natural resources of the Danube and its tributaries. It examines the present situation, focuses on river corridors, restoration of riverine ecosystems and discusses how to increase public awareness and involvement.

Produced by an IUCN team working with the PNG Department of Environment and Conservation, this report underlines the urgent need to initiate appropriate strategic planning for regional development well before the cessation of current mining activities in the Fly River catchment area.
