Management plan of the Beung Kiat Ngong Ramsar site, Pathoumphone District, Champassak Province, Lao PDR, 2013-2017
This document focuses on summarizing the different threats to long term objectives and proposing activities to address these threats. It constitutes a management and action plan for the period from January 2013 until December 2017. This document presents a comprehensive description of the Ramsar site and proposes long term objectives and specific objectives for a management plan.
Ramsar site profile : to assess infrastructure and capacity needs for Xe Champhone Wetlands, Champhone and Xonbuly Districts, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR
The Xe Champhone wetlands in Savannakhet Province is one of two wetlands designated as Ramsar sites upon Lao PDRs accession to the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) in 2010. Initial steps have been taken to set up a Ramsar committee tasked with managing the site. However, to date, the only conservation activities that have occurred at the site to date have been a very small selection of international donor funded projects. Much more work will be required to implement larger scale conservation activities on the ground and to create a long term plan for managing the site.

The Beung Kiat Ngong Wetlands complex in Champassak Province is one of two wetlands designated as Ramsar sites upon Lao PDRs accession to the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) in 2010. Initial steps have already been taken to set up the instructional structure for site governance. However, much more work will be required to implement conservation activities on the ground and to put into place a long term conservation plan for the site. A key next step for Ramsar implementation will be improvement and expansion of the current draft management plan.

Aquaculture site selection and site management
Aquaculture is currently facing a significant challenge: how to alleviate the pressure on fish stocks exerted by commercial fishing and yet meet the increasing demand for sea products in a sustainable way. The aim of this guide is to promote the sustainable development of Mediterranean aquaculture by providing basic guidelines for good practice in site selection and site management.
