In the Northeast Asia sub-region, environmental pollution, transboundary sand and dust storms (SDS), agricultural expansion, deforestation, and overgrazing are growing challenges that are being further complicated by the impacts of climate change.
PANORAMA is a partnership initiative to facilitate learning from success in conservation. It promotes examples of inspiring solutions that showcase how nature conservation can benefit society. PANORAMA enables the wider application of such solutions through cross-sectoral global learning and exchange. Through a modular case study format, solutions are dissected into their replicable “building blocks”.
The marine environment does not naturally respect arbitrary international boundaries. The establishment and management of transboundary marine protected areas therefore presents major governance challenges. This book analyses a series of marine transboundary conservation initiatives embedded in varying contextual situations to examine the underlying reasons for their success or failure.
Approximately one-third of all terrestrial high-biodiversity sites straddle national land borders, yet few man-made boundaries are fixed, and international boundaries often alter over time or disappear altogether. This publication makes the compelling case for transboundary conservation approaches and promotes an array of innovative methods based on contemporary principles.
Ce rapport présente les résultats de deux études thématiques: d’une part le potentiel écologique pour l'identification des corridors dans la zone APT (Aire Protégée Transfrontalière) du Mayombe et, d’autre part, le potentiel écologique pour la délimitation d’AP (Aires Protégées) au sein même de l’APT (Aire Protégée Transfrontalière) du Mayombe.
Through the long efforts of what began as a group of French volunteers, an exemplary Bat Action Plan has been produced by the Society for the Protection of Prespa at the transboundary level, significantly increasing the limited knowledge on bats in the Transboundary Prespa Park.
A elaboração do Plano estratégico dos ecossistemas florestais do Mayombe está baseada na estrutura geral utilizada no Plano estratégico da Rede das áreas protegidas transfronteiriças do Albertine Rift Central (2006). No entanto, este documento está adaptado és condições especificas, as ameaças e prioridades identificadas, e a disponibilidade das informações sobre a iniciativa florestal do Mayombe. A fase inicial desta iniciativa também está tomada em conta.
This strategic plan is adapted to the Mayombe forest initiative’s specific conditions, identified threats and priorities, and information availability. Lessons learned from other experience of other TFCAs/TPAs in the region were also assimilated.
L'élaboration du Plan stratégique transfrontalier des écosystèmes forestiers du Mayombe est basée sur la structure générale utilisée dans le Plan stratégique du Réseau des aires protégées transfrontalières du Rift Albertin central (2006). Toutefois, ce document est adapté aux conditions spécifiques, aux menaces et prioritées identifiées, et à la disponibilité des informations concernant l'initiative forestière du Mayombe.
