Urban development

This report focuses on the role and importance of the fishing and tourism industries in Vanuatu’s economy. The report begins by presenting an overview of the country, its economy, and the fishing and tourism industries. It proceeds by discussing the importance of each industry to the urban and rural economies. The report concludes by summarizing the evidence presented and discussing possible future growth paths for each industry.

La Memoria del Primer Conversatorio sobre Ambiente y Desarrollo Urbano, realizado en noviembre de 2007 en Costa Rica, se realizó con el fin de intercambiar experiencias sobre la integración del criterio ambiental y de riesgo dentro de la planificación del desarrollo de las ciudades centroamericanas con miras a alcanzar un desarrollo urbano sostenible y satisfactorio para la población.

Es un documento que contiene material técnico de índole ambiental y social y el cual tiene por propósito facilitar el proceso de Evaluación de Impacto Ambiental por medio de una herramienta que menciona acciones de la actividad de desarrollo de infraestructura urbana que puede provocar efectos significativos en el medio ambiente.

Urban centres in Nepal will continue to grow as the trend to migrate to urban centres from neighbouring rural areas in search for better economic opportunities continues. This trend will have a significant impact on the existing infrastructure facilities and services of the urban centres. Haphazard growth and inadequate services have not only degraded the environmental quality of the urban centres but have made some urban areas uninhabitable.
