The Atlas is intended to assist Veterinary Service field staffs involved in animal disease surveillance and diagnostics in identifying important transboundary diseases of livestock. The focus of this publication is on key images of clinical signs and post mortem lesions associated with 29 OIE notifiable animal diseases supplemented by basic disease information from the OIE technical disease cards.

The Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine publishes original research findings, clinical observations, and case reports in the field of veterinary medicine dealing with captive and free-ranging wild animals. It also publishes editorials, review articles, and special reports relevant to this field.

As species extinction, environmental protection, animal rights, and workplace safety issues come to the fore, zoos and aquariums need keepers who have the technical expertise and scientific knowledge to keep animals healthy, educate the public, and create regional, national, and global conservation and management communities.

The past decade has been an exciting period for foot and mouth disease (FMD) control and elimination efforts.
