Governance of shared waters : practical exercises

This book presents four exercises that describe a series of conflict scenarios that are completely fictitious but fully possible "realities" in order for them to be analyzed in the context of dialogue and cooperation among the different imaginary actors. The hope is that this new book, which is designed for use in workshops and other capacity-building activities as well as in academic environments, will help to continue capacity building for the effective management of transboundary water basins.

Green infrastructure guide for water management

Green Infrastructure (GI) is becoming increasingly recognized as an important opportunity for addressing the complex challenges of water management. The GI approach refers to the natural or semi-natural systems that provide services for water resources management with equivalent or similar benefits to conventional (built) "grey" water infrastructure. This guide addresses one of the main barriers to widespread adoption of GI solutions: a general lack of awareness of the solutions and associated cost-benefits.

Safe flyways for the Siberian Crane

Cranes, a flagship species of waterbirds, have great cultural significance - especially the Siberian Crane. Yet, even after decades of conservation efforts, cranes remain threatened with 11 species at risk. To help reverse these trends, the UNEP/GEF Siberian Crane Wetland Project  was the first project to its kind to take a "flyway" approach to conservation, looking to secure the ecological integrity of a network of 16 critical wetlands in Eurasia.
