This report presents a rapid assessment of the vulnerability to climate change of coastal habitats and selected species in the eight focal areas of the IUCN project ‘Building coastal resilience in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand’: Koh Kong and Kampot (Cambodia), Chanthaburi and Trat (Thailand), and Ben Tre, Can Gio, Kien Giang and Soc Trang (Vietnam).

Ce document propose une série de projets de principes et de directives pour jeter les bases d’une planification de l’EbA. Ils sont destinés à un usage de planification d’adaptation nationale, par des institutions financières, et dans le cadre de projets de recherche.

Este documento propone un conjunto de principios y lineamientos que actúen como el fundamento para la planeación de la AbE. La intención es que éstos sean usados durante la planeación nacional de adaptación por parte de instituciones financieras y durante el diseño de proyectos e investigación.

This paper is a summary of a longer and fully referenced document by the same authors. These draft guidelines were developed by this group at a workshop and meeting held in Costa Rica in June 2011 to initiate a more formal and iterative process for Ecosystem Based Adaptation Guidelines which can be discussed at various international and regional events.

This document proposes a series of draft principles and guidelines that were produced at a workshop with participation of its authors in June 2011, with the aim to serve as a foundation for planning ecosystem-based approaches to adaptation. The principles are intended to be used by decision makers in national policy in national, territorial and sector planning initiatives, in financial planning, and in project and research design.

Peam Krasop Wildlife Sanctuary (PKWS) is one of the most significant coastal wildlife sanctuaries in Cambodia because it maintains a sizeable area of both mangrove forest and evergreen forest, as well as a number of globally threatened species.

Although the rules regarding REDD have not been set, it is already clear that the extent to which an individual country will be able to attract international investment and REDD payments will depend to a considerable extent on its ability to put in place a system that rewards forest managers who are changing their behaviour to reduce deforestation and degradation.

With a large percentage of the world’s population moving to urban areas, clean, affordable and timely supply of drinking and domestic water to its residents has become a priority. In most cities of the world, the primary responsibility of supplying drinking and domestic water lies with public utilities that often suffer from a series of ailments like poor cost recovery, poor and intermittent supply, and deficit budgets.

The situation analysis studies assessed the current water governance frameworks encompassing policies, legal and regulatory frameworks, and institutional and decision-making aspects, for the three countries. The studies were used to assist the NWGs by identifying the key water governance issues for each country, providing recommendations on relevant dialogue topics for 2009 and 2010 and highlighting the scope for improving water governance.
