The IUCN Restoration Barometer is a tool used by governments to monitor and record progress towards restoration goals in various terrestrial ecosystems, coasts, and inland waters. This document presents a synthesis of the results of the Restoration Barometer’s application in three countries: Guatemala (2011-2020), El Salvador (2014-2021), and Costa Rica (2011-2020).
El Barómetro de la Restauración de la UICN es una herramienta utilizada por gobiernos para monitorear y registrar el avance en sus objetivos de restauración en diversos ecosistemas terrestres, costas y aguas continentales. Este documento presenta una síntesis de los resultados de la aplicación del Barómetro de la Restauración en tres países: Guatemala (periodo 2011-2020), El Salvador (periodo 2014-2021) y Costa Rica (periodo 2011-2020).
Timely action to prevent, reduce and reverse land degradation can improve food and water security, contribute to climate change adaptation and mitigation, and avoid conflicts and migration. In this regard, the initiative for land degradation neutrality promoted by the UNCCD should be highlighted. It is also worth noting the efforts of regional players committed to this struggle – ministries, economic sectors and NGOs to institutionalize the fight against land degradation, recover pre-Hispanic technologies and promote sustainable management.
The 2012 report card highlights three focal sections: existing and emerging threats to reef health an assessment on the current state of the reef and social context; highlights of reef conservation actions across the region, including the prioritized recommendations to foster healthy reefs and healthy people.
