A presente segunda edição do Estado das áreas protegidas e conservadas na África Oriental e Austral toma como base a primeira edição, publicada em 2020, e apresenta dados actualizados sobre a gestão e a governação de áreas protegidas e conservadas na região, disponibilizando efectivamente uma informação regional actualizada sobre os progressos realizados no sentarget_ido da concretização da Meta 3 do Quadro Global de Biodiversidade de Kunming-Montreal (GBF).

Cette deuxième édition de l’État des aires protégées et de conservation d’Afrique orientale et austral s’appuie sur la première édition publiée en 2020 et propose des mises à jour sur la gestion et la gouvernance des aires protégées et de conservation dans la région.

This second edition of The state of protected and conserved areas in Eastern and Southern Africa builds on the first edition published in 2020 and provides updates on how the region is managing and governing protected and conserved areas, effectively providing a regional update on the progress towards the achievement of Target 3 of the Global Biodiversity framework.

Governance is a crucial factor in the equity, effectiveness and sustainability of forest landscape restoration (FLR). The Restoration Opportunities Assessment Methodology (ROAM) provides a framework for governments, rights-holders and stakeholders to define and prioritise FLR options. This publication presents lessons learned and offers recommendations on governance aspects of the ROAM framework and process. It aims to reinforce the ability of ROAM to inform effective, equitable and sustainable FLR.

The Lake Malawi/Nyasa/Niassa Catchment (LMNNC) supports exceptionally high diversity and endemism of freshwater species. This globally recognised centre of freshwater biodiversity is of extreme importance, not only for its biodiversity value but also for our understanding of evolutionary processes and species sorting. Additionally, it provides a resource that underpins the livelihoods of many people in each of the riparian countries of Malawai,  Mozambique and Tanzania, and is important to national economies and human wellbeing.

Методология оценки перспектив восстановления лесных ландшафтов (МОПВ)1 была разработана МСОП и Институтом по исследованию мировых ресурсов (ИИМР) для оказания помощи странам в выявлении возможностей восстановления лесных ландшафтов (ВЛЛ), определении приоритетных территориий на национальном и региональном уровнях, а также разработке и реализации мероприятий по ВЛЛ.

A Metodologia de Avaliação de Oportunidades de Restauração (MAOR) foi elaborada pela UICN e pelo Instituto de Recursos Mundiais (WRI) com vista a apoiar os países no planeamento e implementação da restauração da paisagem florestal (FLR), com a análise de áreas prioritárias nos âmbitos nacional e subnacional e a concepção e implementação de intervenções de FLR.

La Méthodologie d’évaluation des opportunités de restauration des paysages forestiers (MEOR) a été élaborée par l’UICN et le World Resources Institute (WRI) pour aider les pays à identifier les opportunités de restauration des paysages forestiers (RPF), analyser les zones prioritaires au niveau national ou infranational et concevoir et mettre en oeuvre des interventions de RPF.

La UICN y el World Resources Institute (WRI) crearon la Metodología de Evaluación de Oportunidades de Restauración (ROAM) para ayudar a los países a identificar oportunidades de restauración de paisajes forestales (RPF), analizar las áreas prioritarias a nivel nacional o subnacional, y diseñar y ejecutar intervenciones de RPF.

The Restoration Opportunities Optimization Tool (ROOT) was developed out of a need to more efficiently and effectively communicate the importance of ecosystem services to decision makers.
