IUCN Niger Delta Panel : stories of influence

This report is the second in a series that describes IUCN’s work with independent scientific and technical advisory panels. By sharing these Stories of influence, we hope not only to demonstrate the influence that the Niger Delta Panel has had on the remediation of oil spills and biodiversity management in the Niger Delta, but also to illustrate how these intiatives can serve as examples for addressing conservation and development challenges elsewhere in the world – highlighting that collaboration is central to finding long-lasting solutions to today’s pressing challenges.

La gouvernance de l'eau en Afrique de l'Ouest : aspects juridiques et institutionnels. Compte rendu de l'atelier de l'UICN "Gouvernance de l'eau : aspects juridiques et institutionnels de la gestion des ressources naturelles en Afrique de l'Ouest"

The workshop was organised to improve the understanding of the dialectic between water-related infrastructures and institutional frameworks in West Africa. Papers address a multiplicity of issues on water governance: water, wetlands and international environmental agreements; legal aspects of transboundary water resources; water resources management at the local level: customary and modern institutions; Integrated Water Resources Management, environment, economy, and equity in national water policies; and river basin organisations in West Africa.
