Under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001, the District Nazims are expected to provide the Vision for district wide development along with strategies as to how it could be achieved. This initiative is likely to ensure that good governance and sustainable development are part of the Local Government Plan.
Azsarenau Sochiyay Inkar Kijyay Kum Kijyay is a significant publication for ESD in Urdu language due its concentration on the philosophical dimensions of sustainable development and critical analysis of the current unsustainable practices in the world on the one hand. On the other hand it translates this high order thinking into practical ideas for training programmes of teachers and trainers and also its implementation in the classroom settings.
This series provides extensive details on the various issues that need to be considered in the planning of a system of marine and coastal protected areas, from legislation and administrative frameworks to key habitats and species, resource use and environmental problems. Each report concludes with a recommendations section which includes a summary of coastal and marine areas considered to be priorities for protection.
This is a story about how development assistance can conserve biodiversity and improve the lives of rural people. It documents changes in the awareness and capacity of the people of the rugged mountain terrain of Northern Pakistan, and how their enhanced livelihood security has contributed to conservation of biodiversity of the region.
This publication, which contains 23 papers selected from several regional and national meetings, including the 2003 Regional Preparatory Meeting held in Dhaka, tries to capture many pioneering works in participatory conservation in the region and also tries to identify gaps in ecosystem representation in South Asia.
