Pakistan, Northern Areas

This document has been published as part of “Programme Support for Northern Pakistan” project implemented from 2004-07.The project was a continuation of implementation of initiatives that began with the development of the National Conservation Strategy, as well as provincial and district level strategies.

Customary laws, established by communal practice and usage for generations and passed down through oral tradition, are familiar, effective and continue to be practiced to a greater or lesser extent throughout the Northern Areas. And yet few of them have been documented so far.
