The 23 countries and territories that it covers are diverse but share a common identity and geography, as well as many other features such as extensive customary ownership.

In an era of market triumphalism, this book probes the social and environmental consequences of market-linked nature conservation schemes.

The objective of this study is to provide an analysis of the current level of integration of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in the region, with an emphasis on the policy and institutional environment. The report outlines some of the barriers to integration and makes recommendations on how they can be addressed.
