Hydroelectric power modelling study

This publication has been prepared as part of the Flow Assessment Component of the Pangani River Basin Management Project. Its aim is to collect and synthesize present knowledge on the Pangani River system and its users, and to help promote an integrated approach to future water-allocation decisions.

Fish and invertebrate life histories and important fisheries of the Pangani River Basin

This report describe the relationships between the timing and magnitude of freshwater flows in the Pangani system and the biology and life history characteristics of its key fish and invertebrate species.

Task 5 report : an assessment of understanding and knowledge gaps : final report

This report provides information to enhance understanding of water-related ecological and economic systems of the Pangani Basin based on work which was already completed then with a view to identifying gaps and development of Terms of Reference for specialist studies to address the gaps.

Scenario selection report : water-related issues and trends in the Pangani River Basin and the selection of preliminary scenarios for analysis : final report

This publication has been prepared as part of the Flow Assessment Component of the Pangani River Basin Management Project. Its aim is to collect and synthesize present knowledge on the Pangani River system and its users, and to help promote an integrated approach to future water-allocation decisions. This report provides baseline information on the condition of the Pangani River system against which the impact of water-related decision-making can be monitored in future interms of the relationship between flow, river health and the people who use the river.

The scenarios report : the analysis of water-allocation scenarios for the Pangani River Basin

This publication has been prepared as part of the Flow Assessment Component of the Pangani River Basin Management Project. Its aim is to collect and synthesize present knowledge on the Pangani River system and its users, and to help promote an integrated approach to future water-allocation decisions. This report contains information on the Present Day situation in the catchment, scenario creation process, the chosen scenarios, the predicted outcomes of each scenario, and the predicted effect of climate change. It also presents some recommendations for consideration.

Hydrology and system analysis : volume 2 of 2 : development and application of a system model for the Pangani River Basin

This publication has been prepared as part of the Flow Assessment Component of the Pangani River Basin Management Project. Its aim is to collect and synthesize present knowledge on the Pangani River system and its users, and to help promote an integrated approach to future water-allocation decisions. This report document the configuration of the WEAP Water Resources Model and the way it was used to simulate scenarios and generate modified flow sequences at key points in the Pangani basin.

Pangani River Basin flow assessment : final project summary report

This publication has been prepared as part of the Flow Assessment Component of the Pangani River Basin Management Project. Its aim is to collect and synthesize present knowledge on the Pangani River system and its users, and to help promote an integrated approach to future water-allocation decisions. This report synthesises information from the Pangani River Basin Flow Assessment into a Final Project Report; and evaluates the extent to which the project has achieved its goals.

Socio-economic baseline assessment : the role of river systems in household livelihoods

This study forms part of the Pangani River Basin Flow Assessment Initiative. The aims of the socio-economic baseline assessment were: to provide an overview of the basin and its economy, to provide a description of the livelihoods of people living in proximity to rivers in the basin, and to estimate the contribution that aquatic ecosystem resources make to people’s livelihoods.

River health assessment final report

This report forms part of the Pangani River Basin Flow Assessment Initiative. It is based on a health assessment of the river during the wet and dry seasons, together with existing Pangani Basin Water Board water-quality data collected at key points along the river.

Hydraulic study of Lake Jipe, Nyumba ya Mungu Reservoir and Kirua Swamp

This report documents information on surface water inflows and groundwater recharge in maintaining water levels in Lake Jipe and the Kirua swamps and water levels (or depth) and inundated areas in Lake Jipe, Nyumba ya Mungu and Kirua Swamp associated with different antecedent river flows and seasonal variations in aspects such as evaporation, etc.
