This short independent study focuses on the relationship between the extractive industries and natural World Heritage properties. It was commissioned through IUCN in conjunction with the World Heritage Centre, as well as the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and Shell; the latter two funded the exercise.

These guidelines are designed to be applicable to the full spectrum of conservation translocations. They are based on principle rather than example and are designed to provide guidance on the justification, design and implementation of any conservation translocation.

As an active member of the Intergovernmental Council of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO, the Netherlands National Commission for UNESCO and the Netherlands National Committee IHP-HWRP organized the workshop ‘Water allocation and green growth’ in cooperation with the Government of the Netherlands.

Using his marine experience of nearly four decades, the author has provided accurate descriptions of selected reef fishes, with precise illustrations by Shantha Jayaweera. This book long fills a gap, as country-specific field guides for Sri Lanka have not been readily available for marine enthusiasts to learn about reef fishes in its waters.

This book documents the "Implementing a Resilience Framework to Support Climate Change Adaptation in the Mt. Elgon Region of the Lake Victoria Basin" project, which was funded by USAID and implemented by the IUCN Uganda Office. 

The authors begin by highlighting the role that the Apennine system -- one of the major European mountain systems -- can play in the building of a European Ecological Network and, more generally, in nature conservation and the improvement of the quality of the environment in the Euro-Mediterranean context. The authors also outline potential scenarios and briefly describe the strategies that the APE Project intends to develop.
