En 2007, UICN, PNUD, PNUMA y WEDO reconocieron la necesidad de una estrategia coordinada entre las instituciones mundiales involucradas con los temas de género y cambio climático. El resultado fue la creación de la Alianza Global de Género y Clima (GGCA). El objetivo principal de la GGCA es velar por que las políticas sobre el cambio climático, la toma de decisiones, y las iniciativas en los planos mundial, regional y nacional incluyan las consideraciones de género.

En 2007, UICN, PNUD, PNUE et WEDO ont reconnu le besoin pour une stratégie coordonnée auprès des institutions internationales travaillant dans le domaine de la parité entre hommes et femmes et des changements climatiques. La conclusion en fut la création de la Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA). Son but principal est de s'assurer que les politiques en matière de changements climatiques, les prises de décision, et les initiatives aux niveaux global, régional et national prennent en compte la parité entre hommes et femmes.

In 2007, IUCN, UNDP, UNEP and WEDO recognized the need for a coordinated strategy among global institutions working on gender and climate change. The result was the establishment of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA). The primary goal of the GGCA is to ensure that climate change policies, decision making, and initiatives at the global, regional and national levels are gender-responsive. The GGCA has developed this training manual to increase the capacity of policy and decision makers so that efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change are gender-sensitive.

Protected areas are conservation instruments created to protect a country’s natural resources. But, protected areas also constitute important tools for equity development among the populations settled within and around protected areas. This publication provides tools, techniques and recommendations to facilitate protected areas planning, management and administration to seek greater social equity, particularly among women and men. This book intends to highlight the importance of biodiversity in the broadest sense of the term, by making visible and illustrating the differentiated relations that women and men establish with nature and the consequences thereof in regard to development promotion. This document is basically focused on the recognition of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the National Biodiversity Strategies (NBS), as participation and awareness-raising mechanisms of our societies to build a new form of relation between human beings and their environment.

Los objetivos de este libro son resaltar la importancia de la diversidad en toda la extensión del término, al visibilizar y ejemplificar las relaciones que establecen, en forma diferencial las mujeres y los hombres con la naturaleza y sus consecuencias para la promoción del desarrollo.
