This is the first insect Action Plan prepared by the IUCN Species Survival Commission, and was chosen because swallowtail butterflies are perhaps the most charismatic to non-entomologists. Some are the largest butterflies which exist, and the “birdwings” in particular have long excited wonder and comment among naturalists of all persuasions.

This text offers authoritative advice on the present day planning, policies and practices for marine protected areas. The Guidelines are intended primarily to help nations and states to establish national representative systems of marine protected areas as a vital component of the integrated management of their coastal and marine areas. The main text is supplemented by detailed appendices to assist in the planning of a system and of individual marine protected areas.

This handbook is for educators intending to teach the values of tropical moist forests. The book is organized in five parts, each containing several sections. The goal is to help educating people about the true worth of tropical moist forests.

This is the second edition of the Directory of crocodilian farming operations, first published in 1985. The first edition attempted to list all commercial farms, and was primarily intended as a conservation tool to assist government agencies in identifying legal sources of crocodilian skins, and wildlife managers in developing farming projects to benefit the conservation of the wild resource.

The eleven technical papers are the culmination of the first phase to review the natural resource status of these two areas, to design a fully integrated wetland management project, and to develop public awareness of the project's approach to integrating wetlands conservation and development.

This action plan gives a comprehensive survey of the distribution and conservation status of wild camelids in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru and identifies their conservation needs. One such need, for greater public awareness of the value of conserving the species, is addressed through recommending the development of sustainable utilization at the local level, which could allow rural populations to enjoy material benefits from the conservation of camelids.

This Action Plan describes the conservation status of 23 species of the order Crocodylia found worldwide. The plan is arranged in three principal sections: an Introductory overview, Country accounts, and Species accounts. Each Country account describes the status of wild populations, and current management programmes.
