This first volume in the Handbook of the Mammals of the World series deals with the following families: African Palm Civet; Cats; Linsangs; Civets, Genets and Oyans; Hyenas; Mongooses; Euplerids; Dogs; Bears; Red Panda; Racoons; Skunks; Weasels, Martens, Polecats, Badgers and Otters. This volume includes an introduction to the Class Mammalia by Don E. Wilson.

The TEEB study is underpinned by an assessment of state-of-the-art science and economics. The goal is to provide the conceptual foundation to link economics and ecology and to posit a paradigm of the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem services. This aspect of the study tackles the challenges of valuing ecosystem services, as well as issues related to economic discounting.

A profound retrospective of the first decade of the UN Global Compact, challenges in the light of the year of biodiversity, and instruments for an adequate Corporate Citizenship are some of the issues highlighted in the new 2010 edition of the Global Compact International Yearbook. One chapter is entirely devoted to biodiversity.

This TEEB report presents a sub-set of early conclusions which relate to climate change. Although a fuller report on these issues was to be released in late 2009, this shorter version was released in preparation for the climate change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009, and includes the climate-related conclusions and recommendations generated for policy-makers, negotiators and the general public.

The TEEB for Local and Regional Policy Makers was released on September 9, 2010, and includes overviews to the various chapters of the full TEEB for Local and Regional Policy Makers Report.

This paper outlines how the design of REDD could influence its poverty implications and the key requirements for ensuring that REDD works for the poor. It summarises the findings of a much longer analysis recently prepared on behalf of the PEP, entitled Making REDD Work for the Poor.

Compiled by botanists and conservationists in the region and beyond, the first Asian Plant Conservation Report examines recent conservation progress in Asia and offers suggestions on how to achieve plant conservation targets under the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) framework. The report was launched at the 10th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Nagoya, Japan.
