The project "Enhancing land reform strategies for sustainable livelihoods in southern Africa" has two main components: a land reform review and a questionnaire survey in a selected district. It was implemented in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa. This report is the outcome of the desk reviews for the five countries with the following objectives : to analyse the land reform process in Zimbabwe; to explore the linkages between land reform and CBNRM; and to identify the gaps for enhancing this process and recommend complementary policies and strategies

Papers presented as well as discussions and recommendations are collected in this report. Papers were presented under four themes : promoting access to information and networking; skills enhancement; case studies of existing networks in southern Africa and establishment of a network through group discussions and recommendations.

Valuation forms a key exercise in economic analysis and provides important information for wetlands conservation. The basic aim of valuation is to determine people's preferences - how much they are willing to pay for, and how much better or worse off they would consider themselves to be as a result of changes in the supply of different goods and services. This guide demonstrates how valuation tools can be used in practical situations of wetland conservation in eastern Africa
