La création de la Réserve naturelle de l'Aïr et du Ténéré (RNNAT) est le fruit d'un processus qui a débuté à l'initiative de l'UICN, du WWF et du PNUE. La RNNAT couvre une surface de 77 360km2 et occupe des paysages très divers. En son coeur a été créée une réserve intégrale dont l'accès est strictement réglementé et dont la mise en place a été initiée afin de créer les conditions favorables à la reproduction de l'Addax. L'étude est composée de deux parties. La première porte sur les principales composantes du milieu physique, déterminantes pour l'aménagement de la RNNAT. La seconde est consacrée aux composantes anthropiques importantes dans le cadre de l'aménagement de la Réserve
