This synopsis has been produced to highlight the core aspects of the first three volumes of Natural Capital of Mexico, which gives us an overview to identify priorities for future attention, new research areas and options for the conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity in Mexico. The synopsis provides a significant amount of supporting information which, within a conceptual framework can be adopted by different orders of government to help define public policies with an appropriate balance between two key axes in order to progress toward sustainability: the social welfare of Mexicans and best management practices and conservation of Mexico's natural heritage. The framework used was based in part on the "Millennium Ecosystem Assessment", but was adapted to the particular circumstances and characteristics of Mexico.
