First introduced as the IUCN Green List Standard for Protected and Conserved Areas, the IUCN Global Standard for effective and equitable protected and conserved areas version 2.0 (Global PCA Standard) provides this common framework. It establishes an internationally recognised benchmark for assessing and improving effective governance and management of protected and conserved areas, with the overarching objective of increasing the number of sites that deliver successful conservation outcomes. The Global PCA Standard supports conservation practitioners, governance authorities, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, private actors, and other rightsholders and stakeholders in strengthening the governance and management effectiveness of protected and conserved areas.
