Standards

This report results from the deliberations of an IUCN Task Force on Ecological Integrity, and aims to provide guidance on how to successfully incorporate ecological integrity into conservation policy and practice. Ecological integrity, together with several related concepts, are grounded in a long history in the scientific literature.

First introduced as the IUCN Green List Standard for Protected and Conserved Areas, the IUCN Global Standard for effective and equitable protected and conserved areas version 2.0 (Global PCA Standard) provides this common framework.

Agricultural standards and associated certification schemes can play a critical role in mainstreaming biodiversity conservation within farming practices. However, the diversity of standards and criteria makes it difficult to understand how effective they are in raising ambition for biodiversity conservation and delivering contributions to the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
