The Toolkit contains twelve practical tools, each designed to help those responsible for World Heritage site conservation piece together the elements of a comprehensive management framework, including the construction of targeted monitoring strategies. Designed as separate exercises, each with tables and guidelines, the emphasis is on user-friendliness, flexibility, and adaptability to local realities.

This is an attempt to compile a list of threatened species in Nepal included in the 1994 IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals. Of the total 5,629 species in the world included on the list, 61 species belong to Nepal.
