This Plan of Action has been developed by WCPA/Marine and partners around the world as a result of an extensive consultation process. It describes the added value that WCPA/Marine brings to the global community working on MPAs and identifies the renewed need for urgent action to protect oceans and seas. It is intended to help bridge the gap between existing work on MPAs, and what is needed in order to put in place effective and lasting networks of MPAs throughout the world.

This special issue Global Re-introduction Perspectives provides 62 case-studies covering invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and plants. The case-studies have been presented in an organized format in the following order Introduction, Goals, Success Indicators, Project Summary, Major Difficulties Faced, Major Lessons Learned, Success of Project with reasons for success or failure. These case-studies are vividly illustrated with color photographs.

This book (in English, French and Spanish) provides an overview of the history of IUCN in the Mediterranean region, related mainly to the creation of the Cooperation Centre in Málaga in 2001. It also highlights the major projects of the centre and the work for the future.

An enclosed sea such as the Mediterranean is particularly susceptible to ship-associated impacts due to the high volume of shipping routes, long history of use, shallow sensitive habitats and sensitive deep-sea ecosystems. This report describes the potential effects of maritime traffic in the Mediterranean and explores legal mechanisms that could be implemented to facilitate management and mitigation of impacts.

This book, in English, French and Spanish, provides an overview of the Mediterranean forest conservation and management challenges posed by climate change. It addresses relevant issues, like forests’ vulnerability to climate change and past climate change responses which may guide future policies and actions.

This book includes a set of strategic guidelines and key conservation and development issues for the Mediterranean mountains, grouped into eight priority themes, as a starting point towards the elaboration of action plans for the Mediterranean mountain chains.The book contents are based on the outputs of the rich debate that emerged from case studies and experiences debated by regional experts in a regional workshop which took place in Malaga (Spain) on 10-12 December 2007.
