Biodiversity is inherent in forest landscape restoration. As global initiatives like the Bonn Challenge and New York Declaration on Forests inspire nations to pursue sustainable landscapes and economic growth, on the ground, biodiversity binds people and nature to their shared future.

A natural depression that was converted into a wetland and water fowl refuge in the 1700s by the then rulers of Bharatpur, Keoladeo National Park has established itself as one of the most famous bird sanctuaries in the world. But despite its elevated status and the protection afforded to it, the park has not been without its problems.

The book begins with eight chapters on the issues around seeds globally and the practicalities of saving your own seeds.

State of the Wild is a biennial series that brings together international conservation experts and writers to discuss emerging issues in the conservation of wildlife and wild places. In 2013, the IUCN Niger Delta Panel published the report Sustainable remediation and rehabilitation of biodiversity and habitats of oil spill sites in the Niger Delta. In this report, it was recognised that the critical step in the sustainable rehabilitation of biodiversity and habitats of oil spill sites in the Niger Delta is the prevention and/or quick and efficient clean-up of the oil spill in the first place.

These Guidelines on business and KBAs have been developed by the KBA Partners to support businesses in managing risk to biodiversity. They will be of use to business and certification scheme operators, financial institutions, civil society organisations, and public authorities. They are applicable to the businesses’ entire area of influence, as well as throughout the life cycle of the operation, from pre-feasibility to closure (and, where relevant, site rehabilitation).

Sport can have significant negative impacts on biodiversity, through the construction and use of sports venues and the staging of sporting events. Understanding and managing the potential negative impacts and opportunities for conservation is vital for ensuring that sports venues and sporting events deliver successfully both from the financial and operational standpoint.
