Endangered species

Die Rote Liste der Flechten umfasst ca. 2.300 Arten. Obwohl viele Flechten als Symbiosen aus einem formgebenden Pilz- und einem photosynthetisierenden Algenpartner härteste Umweltbedingungen ertragen, gibt es viele gefährdete bzw. ausgestorbene oder verschollene Arten. Flechten reagieren deutlich auf nicht unmittelbar erkennbare Umweltveränderungen wie Stickstoff- und Schwefelemissionen.

In occasione dell'Anno Internazionale della Biodiversità, i Mini Darwin sono partiti alla scoperta del "polmone verde della Terra": la foresta amazzonica.

The purpose of this booklet is to help those people of the Southern Region of Sudan who are engaged in the work of protecting the wildlife of the area. These are the people working in the Democratic Republic of Sudan's Ministry of Wildlife, Conservation and Tourism. It is hoped that it will be of use to all people, from the rank of Game Scout or Tourist Guide, up to the highest officers.
