<p>Non-timber forest products (NTFP) include all the materials (excluding timber) collected from natural or man-made forests and riverine habitats, and used to support local livelihoods in Lao PDR: food, medicines, fibres, extracts and ornamentals. This handbook describes a hundred commonly used or sold NTFPs exclusively derived from plants. Each product (or species) is described as well as its conservation status.</p>

This book describes how the four-year GEF-funded project “Removing Barriers to Invasive Plant Management in Africa” was instrumental in developing ways of limiting the severe ecological, social and economic impacts in different parts of Africa of a number of particularly devastating alien plant invaders.

This Book comes as a watershed of the work in IBSAR on the indigenous plants of Lebanon, where teams of IBSAR researchers have deployed their efforts in learning about local plants and their traditional use as a basis for valorizing them.

Presents the plenary papers and proceedings of a workshop which addressed such topics as goals of inventors, owners, and users; implications of non-U.S. protection, procedures, and practices for U.S. innovators; the status of intellectual property rights (IPR) protection; science-based identification of plant genetic materials; and national legislative issues.
