Protected areas

An Internationally Designated Area (IDA) is a natural area internationally recognised by a global or regional designation mechanism. Among these, there are 263 areas where different IDAs fully or partially overlap thus carrying double, triple or even quadruple international designations.

A través del proyecto «Amazonía más allá de las fronteras: lecciones aprendidas en Áreas Protegidas» UICN-Sur realizó un análisis colectivo con especialistas de Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela que ha permitarget_ido identificar buenas prácticas (BP) y criterios de éxito para la gestión de las Áreas Protegidas (AP) en la Amazonía.

Este documento de lineamientos para la gestión compartarget_ida de áreas protegidas en Centroamérica es un esfuerzo apoyado por la UICN junto a representantes de los pueblos indígenas, comunidades locales y autoridades ambientales, para fortalecer políticas e instrumentos que permitan mejorar la gobernanza y la eficacia de los sistemas nacionales de áreas protegidas en Centroamérica.

This report aims to contribute to the international effort to combat wildlife crime in Sub-Saharan African protected areas by providing a systematic and evidence-based review of law enforcement practices that have proved to be effective in different situations, and by identifying emerging best practice.

This report provides an overview of the increasing vulnerability of World Heritage sites to climate change impacts and the potential implications for and of global tourism. It also examines the close relationship between World Heritage and tourism, and how climate change is likely to exacerbate problems caused by unplanned tourism development and uncontrolled or poorly managed visitor access, as well as other threats and stresses.

The Great Barrier Reef outlook report 2014 provides an overview of the current condition, use, factors influencing the condition, management effectiveness, resilience, risks to its future and likely outlook. For the first time, the report also specifically considers the Region's heritage values, including Indigenous heritage, historic heritage and the area's world heritage values.

La Trousse à outils contient douze outils pratiques ; chacun d’eux est conçu pour aider ceux qui sont responsables de la conservation des sites du patrimoine mondial à rassembler tous les éléments d’un cadre de gestion exhaustif, en ce compris l’élaboration de stratégies de suivi ciblées. Conçus comme des exercices séparés, comprenant chacun tableaux et lignes directrices, ils se veulent faciles à utiliser, flexibles et adaptables aux réalités locales.
