Management plan of the Beung Kiat Ngong Ramsar site, Pathoumphone District, Champassak Province, Lao PDR, 2013-2017

In order to gain further experience on rights-based approaches (RBAs) to conservation, the project focused on undertaking a situation analysis in the Xe Champhone Ramsar Site in Lao PDR. It examined the under-researched issue of customary law governing natural resources, including its relationship with statutory law. This publication summarizes and analyses the findings of the field work.
To address the lack of sufficent knowledge on wetland biodiversity in Tanguar Haor, a comprehensive survey on biodiversity was conducted to understand the present status, habitat classification, population density and diversity of wildlife. The main goal of this book is to share information on the biodiversity of and threats to flora in Tanguar Haor. The text includes species profiles for the most important and popular plant species in Tanguar Haor, to facilitate plant identification.
The Xe Champhone wetlands in Savannakhet Province is one of two wetlands designated as Ramsar sites upon Lao PDRs accession to the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention) in 2010. Initial steps have been taken to set up a Ramsar committee tasked with managing the site. However, to date, the only conservation activities that have occurred at the site to date have been a very small selection of international donor funded projects.

Wetlands are amongst the Earth's most productive ecosystems. In Bangladesh these are of great importance because of the extensive food webs and rich biodiversity they support. In the past, wetlands have been undervalued.

The bulk of the information presented in this report was gathered from project reports from key organizations working in the wetlands and surrounding areas over the past decade or so, as well as from documents prepared for the sites nomination when Lao PDR joined the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance in 2010.
La présente évaluation de l'efficacité de gestion des sites Ramsar d'Afrique de l'Ouest a été réalisée à partir d'un échantillon de treize sites en Afrique de l'Ouest, répartis dans cinq pays (Bénin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia et Mali), francophones ou anglophones.
La présente étude porte sur lévaluation des principales valeurs économiques générées par la restauration du Parc national du Diawling en République islamique de Mauritanie, zone humide dimportance internationale, à travers une estimation des usages directs de la zone dinfluence du parc. Lobjectif était de contribuer des informations utiles aux décisions daménagement et de gestion durable du parc ainsi quà celles relatives au développement de la périphérie, soit du bas delta.
