En Afrique de louest, la principale, sinon la seule, activité industrielle susceptible davoir un impact sur les aires protégées est lindustrie extractive au sens large. En effet, pour pouvoir pleinement remplir leur rôle écologique, les aires protégées sont généralement localisées loin des agglomérations et donc loin des zones industrielles. Seules les mines, en raison des spécificités géologiques locales, sont susceptibles de simplanter à proximité daires protégées.

This publication, produced in the context of the Regional Programme for West African Marine and Coastal Conservation (PRCM), is a successor to a 2005 volume entitled "Environmental management of offshore oil exploitation and maritime oil transport."
