This report provides an overview of existing data about the wetlands, including its ecology, biodiversity, socio-economic values, management and threats. The bulk of the information presented in this report was gathered from project reports from key organizations working in the wetlands and surrounding areas over the past decade or so, as well as from documents prepared for the sites nomination when Lao PDR joined the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance in 2010.
There are a multitude of limiting factors preventing ecosystems, communities, organisms and individuals from adapting to change. Ecological and physical limits comprise the natural limitations to adaptation, associated largely with the natural environment, ranging from ecosystem thresholds to geographical and geological limitations.
This review assessed the suitability of various frameworks, approaches and tools for conducting vulnerability assessments, for use in the EU funded IUCN project Building Resilience to Climate Change in Coastal Southeast Asia. In particular their suitability for use at the provincial, community, and household/individual levels of analysis was emphasised.

Como respuesta a la falta de información sobre el tema es que nace la iniciativa de elaborar por medio de un proceso participativo, un documento que de forma ilustrativa y sencilla explique las acciones que se deben tomar en caso de detectar daños ambientales en las comunidades, principalmente los relacionados con el ecosistema de humedales.
