With the support of the Altener Programme of the European Commission, this elucidates the Island 2010 campaign, whose aim is to promote, identify and consolidate the strategy "Towards 100% Renewable Energy Sources Supply" in island territories.

Although anthropologists and cultural geographers have explored "place" in various senses, little cross-cultural examination of "kinds of places", or ecotopes, has been presented from an ethno-ecological perspective. In this volume, indigenous and local understandings of landscape are investigated to better understand how human communities relate to their terrestrial and aquatic resources.

COASTAL & MARINE (formerly COASTLINE) is the illustrated, full-colour, on-line quarterly magazine of the Coastal & Marine Union (EUCC). The magazine aims at those professionally involved in coastal management, planning and conservation in Europe.
