Marketing of organic products in North-Eastern Poland

In the European Union methods of farm production in accordance with the demands of environmental protection and conservation of landscape are regulated by the European Council. Several Polish regional and national programs are planned, regarding mainly the protection of biodiversity on farmlands, promotion of organic agriculture, soil erosion prevention and counteraction, as well as the depopulation of agricultural regions. The development of organic agriculture in Poland depends on the possibilities for the sale of its products.

Environment for sustainable development in Africa : report of the Experts meeting preparatory to the World Summit for Sustainable Development

In preparation for WSSD, IUCN's international Task Force invited prominent experts from African civil society to meet together in Dakar. This publication in both English and French is the result of that meeting. Objectives of the meeting were to enable the representatives of African civil society to adopt a common position on issues relating to poverty reduction, environment and sustainable development in Africa, and to develop a plan of action on sustainable development in Africa to be circulated at the Johannesburg Summit.

Influencing agriculture policy for biodiversity conservation, based on country reports from Czech Republic, Lithuania and Poland

This report assesses the influence of agricultural policy and regional development on the biodiversity of three selected countries: Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania, and proposes directions for change. It aims at influencing policy-making in selected issues related to the agriculture sector to better conserve biodiversity in agricultural landscapes in Europe. The policy areas were world and inter-European trade; vertical integration – “from seed to shelf”; and the integration of biodiversity into the rural development programmes in Central Europe.

Land reform and conservation areas in South Africa : towards a mutually beneficial approach

An increasing number of land reform projects are taking place in conservation areas. Many of these are concerned with the restitution of land rights to people dispossessed of their land, and others are more generally concerned with effecting tenure reform and redistributing land to the disadvantaged and the poor. The purpose of this document is to facilitate information exchange between the land and conservation sectors with respect to land reform and conservation areas and to determine a common framework within which they can work.
