Forest landscape restoration

Este relatório de foco descreve o processo para o desenvolvimento do Barómetro do Desafio de Bonn e os conceitos e iniciativas por trás dele. Também disponibiliza cinco estudos de caso sobre o progresso da Restauração da  Paisagem Florestal (FLR), no Brasil, em El Salvador, no México (Quintana Roo), em Ruanda e nos Estados Unidos, que ilustram os tipos de informações que serão apresentadas pelos relatórios do Barómetro.

The Restoration Opportunities Optimization Tool (ROOT) was developed out of a need to more efficiently and effectively communicate the importance of ecosystem services to decision makers.

The protection and revival of degraded and deforested land is the need of the hour. In order to tackle the issues that arise as a consequence of degradation and deforestation, principles of forest landscape restoration are being globally promoted. The Bonn Challenge is a global effort to bring 150 million hectares of deforested and degraded land into restoration by 2020 and 350 million hectares by 2030.

Biodiversity is inherent in forest landscape restoration. As global initiatives like the Bonn Challenge and New York Declaration on Forests inspire nations to pursue sustainable landscapes and economic growth, on the ground, biodiversity binds people and nature to their shared future.

The primary objective of this assessment is to determine the value for money (VfM) of IUCN's contribution to Guatemala’s forest landscape restoration (FLR) policy formulation processes during the period 2012-2016.

The Bonn Challenge, launched in September 2011 and extended by the 2014 New York Declaration on Forests, is an enormous opportunity to improve environmental and social outcomes globally, nationally and sub-nationally. To capture and provide evidence of advances, partnership opportunities, needs and bottlenecks, IUCN initiated the development of the Bonn Challenge Barometer.
