The Ganges River Basin is shared by four countries – Bangladesh, China, India and Nepal – and though it lacks a regional basin-level cooperation agreement to facilitate its joint management and address common challenges such as floods and climate change, there are four bilateral agreements on the Ganges River and its tributaries.

This rapid technical review assesses the “Updated Environmental Impact Assessment Report for 2100 MW Power Generation from the Rufiji Hydropower Project in Selous Game Reserve, Pwani and Morogoro regions, Tanzania” of 18 October 2018 that relates to a planned hydropower project to be built at Stiegler’s Gorge in the north of Selous Game Reserve.

This policy brief examines the existing Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) and ratified National Determined Contributions (NDCs) with regard to the inclusion of specific efforts addressing blue carbon ecosystems, namely mangroves, target_idal saltmarshes and seagrasses, as climate mitigation or adaptation solutions.

The present volume should be read in conjunction with State of nature conservation systems in South-Eastern Europe as it represents its integral part and foundation. Both reports follow the same logic and structure, and their content is presented through the same thematic chapters. 

The report summarizes the methodology and main outcomes of a national Restoration Opportunities Assessment Methodology (ROAM) process to identify forest landscape restoration opportunities in Myanmar.

Este estudio trata de un análisis económico de 11 acciones de restauración del paisaje en Honduras, que van desde la restauración de áreas agrícolas (pastos, granos básicos, cafetales) hasta las áreas forestales (bosque de pino y de mangle). Abarca 14 indicadores financieros, cuatro indicadores ambientales y dos indicadores sociales que sirven para comparar las técnicas de restauración mediante un análisis multicriterio.

The assessment includes a global review of literature and legal information on international and national law and policy, a desk assessment of mangrove-related legal instruments in India, Kenya and Mexico, and an in-depth evaluation of effectiveness of mangrove-related law in Costa Rica, Madagascar and Vietnam.

Considering the increasing recognition of the role of benefit sharing in facilitating transboundary water cooperation, the IUCN BRIDGE GBM project is facilitating development of a Transboundary Benefit Sharing Strategy (TBSS) for the Meghna Basin.

Mangroves are among the most important ecosystems on the planet. They provide nursery grounds for a wide variety of marine and landbased species, sustain livelihoods of coastal populations, and protection from ocean swell and extreme weather events. However, mangroves are being cleared, degraded, or lost at a rapid pace. This report is targeted at project developers, donors and investors.
