This is the French-language edition of the catalogue about the castle and the forest of Fontainebleau. It is about an album of lithographies collecting 27 views of the castle and the forest, the high places of the rising tourism and offering a remarkable testimony on Fontainebleau under Louis Philippe and Napoleon III.

A book illustrating the conservation status of thousands of plants and animals in the countries of the South African Development Community.

    Lynas, Mark

An eye-opening and vital account of the future of our earth and our civilisation if current rates of global warming persist.

This background paper surveys international experience in the development and use of mechanisms to establish and manage connectivity conservation. Specifically it seeks to provide an understanding of the range of mechanisms including laws, regulations, and other regulatory instruments and agreements which have been used in other countries to support connectivity conservation. The information in this background paper will enable practitioners in Viet Nam to understand what other countries have learned from experience with connectivity conservation and to adapt approaches to the national context. This review draws upon examples and case studies from the literature and from the knowledge of experts in IUCN’s technical networks.

The objective of these guidelines is to help foresters and forest planners improve the contribution of tropical production forests to global efforts to conserve biodiversity. They are intended to update and replace the 1993 ITTO Guidelines for the Conservation of Biological Diversity in Tropical Production Forests.

This guidelines outlines one management tool, strategic adaptive management, that has been developed by the staff and managers of Kruger National Park. This approach recognises and is responsive to global change factors in a realistic and practical manner. The guideline aims to present an overview of strategic adaptive management practice, or SAM, as it has emerged within the specific context of Kruger National Park. The specific illustrative context that we use is that of rivers which have undergone enormous change.

    Linden, Eugene

Climate has been humanity's constant, if moody, companion. Eugene Linden reveals a recurring pattern in which civilizations become prosperous and complacent during good weather, only to collapse when climate changes -- either through its direct effects, such as floods or drought, or indirect consequences, such as disease, blight, and civil disorder. The Winds of Change places climate change, global warming, and the resulting instability in historical context and sounds an urgent warning for the future.

Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) are important instruments for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. CEPA provides the link from science and ecology to people’s social and economic reality. It supplies the oil for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity and deals with the processes that motivate and mobilize individual and collective action. It comprises a range of social instruments including information exchange, dialogue, education, and marketing. The toolkit has been developed by the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. It is meant for CBD focal points and those responsible for the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAP). The toolkit offers information to update knowledge and skills with fact sheets, checklists and practical examples from all over the world.

Background information about the district is given, the rationale and requirement of the new system of local government and the salient features of the history and geography of Gwadar are given. Following this, six chapters examine and discuss the issues of various sectors of economy, explore the opportunities and outline the strategy for coherent planning besides providing and action plan with a framework for implementation to achieve the ultimate goal of a "better and safer environment for economic prosperity and social well-being of the people in Gwadar".
